Guidelines and Expectations for Membership in Virginia Winds Academy
All successful, goal oriented organizations can build a solid foundation for success on 3 simple expectations. All adults and students affiliated with Virginia Winds Academy are expected to:
1. Do their best.
2. Do what is right.
3. Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
These three items constitute the “rules of membership” for Virginia Winds Academy.
Additional expectations are founded on the understanding that membership in Virginia Winds Academy is sought and achieved through a demonstrated standard of excellence, on the individual and organizational level. Therefore it is understood and expected that members will meet and endorse the following:
Member in good standing of student's school band
Flawless attendance at rehearsals and events
Preparation of individual parts to facilitate interpretive-oriented rehearsals
Punctuality
Maintain a professional demeanor and rehearsal ethic at all rehearsals and performances
Provisioning: instruments, accessories, music, pencil
Meet obligations and expectations of the base school band and director
Maintain academic success in required and selected coursework
Encourage and support fellow members in seeking musical excellence
